Lila Bankston
Lila Bankston is an independent dealer and appraiser of gems, estate and modern jewelry in New York City.  Ms. Bankston was an Assistant Vice President, Jewelry Specialist and Head of Sale for Fine Jewelry auctions at Christie’s, New York from 2002-2005.  She was also the Director of the Jewelry Department at Christie’s East from 2001-2002, as well as Head Cataloguer for the Jewelry Department at Christie’s New York from 2000-2001.  Prior to her time at Christie’s, Ms. Bankston served as Head Cataloguer and Specialist at Phillips International Auctioneers in New York from 1997 to 2000.

In 1994 Ms. Bankston received a Bachelor of Arts in French with a minor in Art History from the University of Alabama, where she was a member of the Honors program as well as Phi Beta Kappa.  After working for the Loretta Goodwin Gallery in Birmingham, Alabama in 1994 and 1995, she went on to receive a post-graduate diploma for her studies in the Fine and Decorative Arts from the Renaissance to the present day at Christie’s Education in London.  After arriving in New York in 1997, Ms. Bankston earned her Graduate Gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America.  Ms. Bankston is a member of the American Society of Jewelry Historians, as well as a member of the Gemological Institute of America Alumni Association.
