Lucy von Brachel
Lucy von Brachel is an appraiser and specialist in fine art and historical photography. Lucy has been working in her area of specialty since 1995 when an internship at the Howard Greenberg Gallery became a permanent position as the gallery's registrar. Her responsibilities as registrar included cataloguing and caring for an extensive inventory of 19th and 20th century photographs. As the Associate Director of Photographs at Swann Auction Galleries from 1999 through 2005, Lucy researched, catalogued, and valued photographs and photographically illustrated books for an average of four auctions per year. In 2005, Lucy became the Collections Manager for the Department of Photographs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art where she was responsible for the care and documentation of over 60,000 photographs, including the Gilman Paper Company Collection and the Walker Evans Archive. During her six years at the Met, she curated two collection exhibitions and was the co-presenter at an ARLIS/NA workshop on the identification of photographic and photomechanical processes.

Lucy holds a BFA in Photography from Parsons School of Design. She became a certified member of the Appraisers Association of America in January 2012 and is a also member of ArtTable and POW Arts.
