Piers Davies
Mr. Davies is a freelance appraiser and art agent based in New York City. From 1992, he worked for eight years at Historical Portraits Ltd a London-based gallery specializing in British and Old Master paintings. While there he established their research department and undertook academic work that was using in selling and marketing works of art to a wide range of private collections and public institutions including the National Portrait Gallery, Gainsborough’s House, The National Trust and The Tate Gallery. In 2000 he was appointed Sporting Art Specialist at Christie’s in New York and for the next three years ran their extremely successful annual sales as well as being getting across a range of departments. He was subsequently promoted to Vice President, Specialist in the Old Master Paintings Department where he worked on a number of record breaking sales including J.M.W. Turner’s Giudecca, La Donna della Salute and San Giorgio for $35.8m. He left Christie’s at the end of 2010 when he established his own business.

Mr. Davies received a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA Hons) in History of Art from Manchester University.
